English:

This week our English and topic are linked around the text Paddington bear. You will be writing your own Paddington adventure story later in the week.

Reading: A Bear called Paddington

Either listen to, or read for yourself, the second chapter of ‘A Bear called Paddington.

Chapter 2- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjAuydxabc4

Or enjoy reading it yourself! It is a free download on Kindle. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bear-Called-Paddington-Book-ebook/dp/B006UN3FTY

Today, you are going to focus on the plot structure (what happens) of the chapter. (This will help you when you come to write your own chapter).

Use the story mountain to summarise what happens in each part of the chapter on a story mountain. (You can print the example below or draw your own). You should include:

  • Opening (How does that chapter start? Who? Where?)
  • Build-up (What do the characters start to do?)
  • Dilemma (What problem does Paddington face?)
  • Resolution (How is that problem solved?)
  • Ending (how do some of the characters react to what has just happened?)

You only need to write short notes for each section, not long sentences.

Maths:

Daily 10: Practice those mental maths skills!

Having listened to your feedback from last week, some of you preferred the white rose maths, and some preferred the NCETM videos. So, I am going to offer a choice. You can either do the white rose or  the NCETM videos. There is no right or wrong option, it is what best suits you. Either lesson will benefit your child.

Science: Spectacled bears

Find out why the bears are endangered. What is being done to stop them from becoming extinct? You can choose how to present your findings. You might-

*Do a PowerPoint

* Present your findings to your family or send us a video via Class Dojo

* Make a colourful poster

You decide!
